கொழும்பு – கண்டி பிரதான வீதியில், வரகாபொல பொலிஸ் பிரிவுக்குட்பட்ட 36ஆவது மலைக் கோவில் அருகில் இன்று (14) அதிகாலை மோட்டார் சைக்கிள் செலுத்துனர் ஒருவரை விபத்துக்குள்ளாக்கிவிட்டு வாகனம் ஒன்று தப்பிச் சென்றுள்ளது.
காயமடைந்த மோட்டார் சைக்கிள் செலுத்துனர் வீதியில் விழுந்து கிடப்பதாக வரகாபொல பொலிஸ் நிலையத்திற்குக் கிடைத்த தகவலுக்கு அமைய உடனடியாகச் செயற்பட்ட பொலிஸார், காயமடைந்தவரை வரகாபொல வைத்தியசாலையில் அனுமதிக்கும் நடவடிக்கை எடுத்தனர். எனினும், அவர் உயிரிழந்துவிட்டதாகத் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது.
இவ்வாறு உயிரிழந்தவர் 31 வயதுடைய, கணேமுல்லைப் பிரதேசத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர் எனப் பொலிஸார் அடையாளம் கண்டுள்ளனர்.
இது வாகன விபத்து காரணமாகவே ஏற்பட்ட மரணம் எனப் பொலிஸார் சந்தேகிப்பதுடன், விபத்தை ஏற்படுத்திய வாகனம் நிறுத்தாமல் அங்கிருந்து தப்பிச் சென்றுள்ளது.
சடலம் தற்போது வரகாபொல வைத்தியசாலையின் பிரேத அறையில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதுடன், வரகாபொல பொலிஸார் மேலதிக விசாரணைகளைத் தீவிரமாக மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர்.
A 31-year-old man from the Ganemulla area, who was riding a motorcycle, was killed in a hit-and-run accident near the 36th Mountain Temple on the Colombo-Kandy main road, under the Warakapola Police Division, early this morning (14). Police, alerted to the injured rider lying on the road, rushed him to Warakapola Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities suspect the death was caused by a vehicle accident where the offending vehicle fled the scene without stopping. The Warakapola Police are conducting further investigations, and the body has been placed in the hospital mortuary.
