இலங்கை போக்குவரத்து சபையின் (இ.போ.ச) பல தொழிற்சங்கங்கள் வேலைநிறுத்தத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளதால், வவுனியா மாவட்டத்திலும் இ.போ.சவுக்கு சொந்தமான பேருந்துகள் இன்று (28) சேவையில் ஈடுபடவில்லை. இதனால் பொதுமக்கள் கடும் அவதிக்குள்ளாகியுள்ளனர்.
கொழும்பு மற்றும் யாழ்ப்பாணம் மாவட்டங்களில், தனியார் மற்றும் இ.போ.ச பேருந்துகள் இணைந்து நேர அட்டவணைப்படி சேவையில் ஈடுபட வேண்டும் என்ற புதிய திட்டத்திற்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்து, இலங்கை போக்குவரத்து சபையின் ஊழியர்கள் இந்த வேலைநிறுத்தத்தை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளனர்.
Due to an ongoing strike by several trade unions of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), bus services in the Vavuniya district were disrupted today, causing inconvenience to the public. The strike was launched in protest against a new policy that requires SLTB and private buses to operate on a joint schedule in the Colombo and Jaffna districts.
