வெலிகம பிரதேச சபைத் தலைவர் லசந்த விக்ரமசேகர கொலை தொடர்பில் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட சந்தேக நபர்களிடம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட விசாரணையில், துப்பாக்கிதாரியுடன் சேர்ந்து மோட்டார் சைக்கிளை ஓட்டிச் சென்றவர் வெறும் 19 வயதுடைய இளைஞர் எனவும், நட்பின் காரணமாகவே இக்கொலைக்கு உடந்தையாக இருந்ததாகவும் பொலிஸார் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

குறித்த இளைஞன் காலி – ஹல்ப்பே பிரதேசத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர் எனவும், போதைப்பொருள் பாவனைக்கு அடிமையானவர் என்றும் தெரியவந்துள்ளது. துப்பாக்கிதாரியுடன் இருந்த நட்பின் அடிப்படையிலேயே மோட்டார் சைக்கிள் ஓட்டுநராகப் பங்கேற்றதாகவும் அவர் ஒப்புதல் வாக்குமூலம் அளித்துள்ளார்.
இக்கொலையின் பிரதான சந்தேக நபர்களான துப்பாக்கிதாரி மற்றும் மோட்டார் சைக்கிள் ஓட்டுநர் ஆகியோரை குற்றப் புலனாய்வுப் பிரிவினர் கைது செய்தனர்.
இக்கொலையுடன் தொடர்புடையதாகக் கூறப்படும் சந்தேக நபர்களிடம் தொடர்ந்தும் விசாரணைகள் முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.
Police investigations into the murder of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Lasantha Wickremasinghe have revealed that the individual who drove the motorcycle carrying the gunman was a mere 19-year-old youth who participated in the crime solely due to friendship with the shooter.
The youth, identified as a resident of the Halpe area in Galle, confessed that he was addicted to drugs and acted as the getaway driver based on his friendship with the gunman. Both the main suspects, the gunman and the motorcyclist, have been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and further inquiries related to the murder are ongoing.
