குளியாப்பிட்டிய சிறைச்சாலையில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த கைதியொருவர் நேற்று (29) பிற்பகல் தான் அணிந்திருந்த சாரத்தால் கழுத்தில் சுருக்கிட்டு தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டுள்ளார்.
சந்தேகநபர் கழுத்தில் சுருக்கிட்டுத் தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டுள்ளதை அறிந்த சிறைச்சாலை அதிகாரிகள் உடனடியாக அவரை வைத்தியசாலையில் அனுமதித்த போதிலும், அவர் அதற்கு முன்பே உயிரிழந்து விட்டதாகக் குளியாப்பிட்டிய பொலிஸார் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர்.

இவ்வாறு உயிரிழந்தவர் எரேபொல சிறிபெல்ல பிரதேசத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர் எனத் தெரியவந்துள்ளது.
சந்தேகநபர் மீது கொள்ளைச் சம்பவங்கள் தொடர்பில் பல குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் சுமத்தப்பட்டிருந்ததாகத் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது. அதற்கமைய, குறித்த சந்தேகநபர் கொள்ளைச் சம்பவம் ஒன்று தொடர்பான அடையாள அணிவகுப்புக்காக (Identification Parade) முன்னிலைப்படுத்தப்படவிருந்ததாகவும் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
உயிரிழந்த சந்தேகநபரின் சடலம் தற்போது குளியாப்பிட்டிய போதனா வைத்தியசாலையில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதுடன், நீதவான் விசாரணைகள் மற்றும் பிரேத பரிசோதனைகள் இடம்பெறவுள்ளன.
A prisoner detained at the Kuliyapitiya Prison committed suicide yesterday afternoon (the 29th) by hanging himself with the sarong he was wearing. Although prison officials immediately rushed him to the hospital, Kuliyapitiya Police confirmed that he had died before admission. The deceased was identified as a resident of the Erepola Siribella area. The suspect was facing multiple charges related to robbery cases and was reportedly due to be presented for an identification parade related to one of these incidents. The body has been placed at the Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital, pending the magistrate’s inquest and post-mortem examination.
