A group that arrived in Jaffna for fund-raising activities was chased away by the police yesterday (November 6th).
It was reported that members of this group had been continuously engaging in fund-raising activities across various districts, falsely claiming that their children had physical disabilities requiring large sums of money for treatment.
Yesterday, the group arrived in Jaffna. Based on a tip-off, Jaffna Police detained the three individuals in the group and conducted an investigation. Inquiries revealed that the three individuals were from the Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, and Vavuniya districts.
The police subsequently released the individuals after severely warning them against engaging in such illegal fundraising activities again.
