Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amara Suriya stated that an age-appropriate sexuality education system must be introduced to children to prevent sexual abuse and harassment.
She made this remark while addressing the public representatives of the Kandy District during a program held under her leadership to brief them on the new educational reforms. The Prime Minister added that plans related to this would be formulated after obtaining the recommendations and advice of experts.

- Current Status: A textbook has been prepared for Grade 6 in an age-appropriate manner. However, no decision has been made yet on the specific age, method, or time of introduction of the full curriculum.
