A young woman was killed in a road accident near the 9th kilometer post on the Mawanella-Hemmathagama road in Kegalle. The accident occurred when a three-wheeler traveling towards Hemmathagama collided head-on with an oncoming lorry. The three-wheeler driver and two female passengers sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Mawanella Hospital, where one of the women succumbed to her injuries. The deceased victim was identified as a 29-year-old resident of the Hemmathagama area. The body has been placed in the Mawanella Hospital mortuary, and Hemmathagama Police are conducting further investigations.
