வீரவில ஏரிக்குச் சென்று காணாமல் போன இராணுவ வீரரின் சடலம் இன்று (18) மதியம் கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்டதாகக் காவல்துறையினர் தெரிவித்தனர்.
கெமுனு படைப்பிரிவைச் சேர்ந்த, வீரவில விடுமுறை விடுதியில் பணிபுரியும் இந்த இராணுவ வீரர், நேற்று மாலை (17) வீரவில ஏரிக்குச் செல்வதாகக் கூறிச் சென்றிருந்தார். அவர் திரும்பி வராததால், இன்று (18) காலை வீரவிலக் காவல்துறையிடம் அவர் காணாமல் போனதாக மற்றொரு இராணுவ வீரர் முறைப்பாடு அளித்தார்.
இதனையடுத்து காவல்துறையினர் நடத்திய தேடுதலில் அவர் சடலமாக மீட்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
இறந்தவர் வலப்பனை, கும்புக்வெலவைச் சேர்ந்த 18 வயதுடைய கே.டி. அஜித் பெமரத்ன என அடையாளம் காணப்பட்டுள்ளார். சம்பவம் தொடர்பில் காவல்துறையினர் மேலதிக விசாரணைகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர்.
The police reported that the body of a soldier who went missing after going to the Weerawila Lake was found this afternoon (18). The soldier, identified as K.T. Ajith Pemarathne (18) from Kumbukwela, Walapane, was attached to the Gemunu Watch and worked at the Weerawila Holiday Resort. He left for the lake yesterday evening (17) and did not return, prompting a fellow soldier to file a missing person report this morning. His body was recovered during the subsequent search conducted by the police, who are now investigating the incident.
