இன்று (05) காலை, களுத்துறை தெற்கு பொலிஸ் பிரிவுக்குட்பட்ட கட்டுகுருந்த கடற்கரையில், போதைப்பொருள் என சந்தேகிக்கப்படும் ஒரு பொதி கரை ஒதுங்கியுள்ளது.
சுமார் 10 கிலோகிராம் எடை கொண்ட ஒரு பொதி இவ்வாறு கரை ஒதுங்கிக் கிடந்துள்ளது.
இந்நிலையில், கடற்கரைக்கு அருகில் இருந்த சுற்றுலா ஹோட்டல் ஊழியர்கள் இதைப் பார்த்து, பாதுகாப்புப் பிரிவினருக்குத் தகவல் அளித்துள்ளனர்.
குறித்த தகவலின் பேரில் அங்கு வந்த பொலிஸ் விசேட அதிரடிப் படையினர், மேலதிக விசாரணை நடவடிக்கைகளுக்காக அந்தப் பொதியை எடுத்துச் சென்றுள்ளனர்.
இந்தப் பொதி கடலில் மிதந்து வந்ததா? அல்லது யாரேனும் ஒரு நபரால் இங்கு கொண்டு வந்து போடப்பட்டதா? என்பது தொடர்பில் களுத்துறை கட்டுகுருந்த பொலிஸ் விசேட அதிரடிப் படையினரும் மற்றும் களுத்துறை தெற்குப் பொலிஸாரும் இணைந்து விசாரணைகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர்.
A suspicious parcel believed to contain drugs washed ashore this morning (the 5th) at the Kattukurunda beach in the Kalutara South Police Division. The package weighed approximately 10 kilograms.
Staff from a nearby tourist hotel spotted the parcel and informed security forces. The Police Special Task Force (STF) arrived at the scene and seized the package for further investigation.
Both the Kalutara Kattukurunda STF and Kalutara South Police are jointly investigating whether the parcel floated in from the sea or was placed there by an individual.
